Dedicated to Helping Northern Michigan Families, Together with Northmen Den Youth Service & Father Fred Foundation

The crews at the three Irish Boat Shop locations are creating literal boatloads of food to assist their communities during this holiday season, in conjunction with Northman Den Youth Services and The Father Fred Foundation.

The Traverse City location is kicking off Irish Boat Shop’s  “Fill the Boat Food Drive” with its “Women at the Helm” networking and educational forum, held Thursday, November 6 at 5:30-7:30 PM at 988 West Commerce Drive, Traverse City.

The Harbor Springs location at 400 East Bay Street, will follow with its event in conjunction with the Harbor Springs Chamber of Commerce Saturday, December 6, offering a parking spot and first stop for the Merchants Holiday Open House from 6:00-9:00 PM.

The Charlevoix location will hold a Holiday Open House to wrap up the Food Drive on Friday, December 12 from 4:30-6:00 PM at 13000 Stover Road.

Customers and the community are requested to stop in any time beyond the event hours and bring non-perishable food items to help “Fill the Boat” in each Shop. All who donate will receive an entry into the Food Drive raffle for an Irish Boat Shop Gift Bag.

The food from all three locations will be accumulated and distributed to the two participating foundations with the goal being to surpass last year’s total of 1,000 pounds of food. Preferred items include granola bars, crackers, muffin mixes, honey, peanut butter, seed butter, jelly, jam, bread and microwave popcorn. A full list of items can be found on the Facebook event page, contact Irish Boat Shop with any questions.

“We are grateful for the success we have had at Irish Boat Shop in all three of our locations and want to continue to support the communities where we live and work,” said Colin Texter, GM of the Traverse City location. Dave Irish began not only the company over 60 years ago, but also the tradition of philanthropy and stewardship of the environment of Northern Michigan.
