E-Z Anchor Puller Retractable Pontoon Anchoring Solution Kit

Published: Saturday, October 9, 2021

This installation can be completed by any novice or a local marina! The retractable system is designed to collapse under the pontoon or tritoon so it’s out of sight and out of mind before literally springing into action.

How Does It Work?

The spring inside the retractable raceway pushes the anchor roller out 10-12 inches beyond the bullnose when tension on the rope is released from the drum anchor winch installed below. When the boater presses the rocker switch located at the helm, tension is released, the anchor winch unwinds the rope, and the retractable’s bow roller extends out and deploys the anchor!

What Does the Solution Work With?

Drum Anchor Winch Requirements
Our Hero EX-1, EX-2 and Patriot EZ-1 drum anchor winches are pontoon solution compatible and power the solution by feeding the rope through the square aluminium tube raceway of the retractable. When it’s not in use, the drum anchor winch neatly spools anchor rope with no fear of tangles or jams.

Rope and Chain Requirements
When pontooning in calm, freshwater lakes that are protected from high winds, the chain is typically not used in the rope configuration. Alternatively, when boating in moving bodies of water and high-wind areas, attach a ¼” chain to your rope configuration. Typical rope configurations for the pontoon anchoring solution can range from ¼” to ⅜” dyneema/spectra or nylon.

Best Anchor Selections
Select a river or mushroom-style anchor that settles into soft surfaces and sustains its holding power by sinking into the soft-bottom sediments of the body of water you’re boating in. This anchor shape “suctions” itself into the silt and mud, making it difficult for the anchor to break loose.

Tips for Rope Spooling on the Retractable Solution

Naturally, rope does not want to lay on top of itself; it wants to lay in between each “ring” and the further back the installation is from the roller, the more even your lay will be with each use. Leave at least 24 inches from the roller or more if you can. When you first receive your drum winch, spool the rope on wet the first time and take your time to ensure it is even. Then position the drum anchor winch, carefully checking rope path, before mounting to your deck or bulkhead. When operating in shallow water, avoid overloading the spool/drum with rope and chain.

Popular Optional Accessories

The optional wireless remote control will deploy and retrieve an anchor at 100-feet-per-minute when not at the helm. Attach the optional wi-fi waterproof camera to the universal mounting plate below-deck to watch the drum anchor winch neatly deploy and retrieve all anchor, rope, and chain while anchoring!
